Our Story

Nimrod Outdoors started in 2014 when M.A. Dozier decided to follow his dream of taking fathers and their children hunting. That year, M.A. and his wife, Chelsea, utilized a family property to take 3 separate groups of dads and their boys hunting. The main priority of this outreach was to share the gospel with the men and share what God has called them to be; spiritual leaders in their home.

The following year, Nimrod Outdoors became an official non-profit (501c3). The organization continued to grow as M.A. and Chelsea began to use different outlets to raise up men to become spiritual leaders in their homes, including a men's breakfast, backpacking events, hunting events, fishing events, archery tag, and more. The ministry utilized different properties all across the Carolinas. As the ministry grew, many events functioned out of hotels, and it became challenging to balance work, a growing family, and the ministry. It became evident that this was not sustaining for our family or the ministry and we began to pray about what the next steps would be.

In 2019, God made it clear that it was time to let go of comfort and fully lean into Him. Within 60 days, M.A. and Chelsea moved their entire family to Elberton, Georgia. They did not know a soul there at the time but stepped out in obedience and faith. They purchased a small property where they spent the next two years remodeling parts of their house and garage to create both The Sanctuary, a gorgeous, studio-style room used for respite care for pastors and missionaries, as well as The Bunkhouse, a lodge used for men's retreats. The original plan was to have ministry activities happening by the end of 2020 but Covid threw a huge curveball at this plan and made the projects much more lengthy and completely out of the original price range. However, God had it all planned, even in the moments their eyes lost focus on Him. M.A. and Chelsea had to let go of their own expectations and lean into God's sovereignty. By the spring of 2021, the projects were complete and the ministry was completely debt-free. Nimrod Outdoors was up and running once more-- but this time, through the property that M.A. and Chelsea owned and resided. The next 3 years would bring a lot of trials, testing, endurance, and most importantly, growth.

Over the next three years, the ministry was successful and kept the Dozier family busy serving and ministering to those through both the bunkhouse and the respite room. There were times when both facilities were full as they hosted a men's event in one place and loved on missionaries in the other. Even when things felt that were going well, God made it clear that He was not done and He had better plans ahead.

In 2023, M.A. and his family sold their home. This was unexpected and seemed so premature for the time and work put into the farmhouse. However, it was through this that North Fork Ministries emerged. M.A. became the youth pastor at a church in Carnesville, Georgia and they purchased some land to begin building their house on. M.A.'s parents also purchased 60 acres of land which they have named North Fork Sanctuary. They built their home on this property which has a mixture of hardwoods, fields, live oaks, creeks, and 1000 ft of the North Fork River. Their entire heart behind this property is to use it for ministry and God's Kingdom. These projects should be completed in the fall of 2024 and events should begin in 2025.

Over the last decade, there have been a lot of changes and growth in this non-profit. What started as a small hunting ministry used to share the importance of spiritual leadership molded into a space to encourage and provide rest for pastors and missionaries, a devotion book, a podcast series, speaking engagements, fishing trips, hunting trips, men's events, women's events, and family events all dedicated to not only producing spiritual leaders within the home but also building the family up to raise warriors for the Kingdom of God by making disciples within the family. Nimrod Outdoors is now a subset of North Fork Ministries and will continue to host events for men. North Fork Ministries is going beyond this and will be at the forefront of all respite and pastoral care while also hosting a variety of family-based events, marriage events, and men's and women's events. M.A. and Chelsea as well as M.A.'s parents, Mike and Cheryl, have a heart to build disciples and God has provided the space, resources, and people to do just that. We are all excited to see how God uses North Fork Ministries to build His Kingdom. It is all His and we cannot wait to finally use it for the purpose it was all made for!
