Our Story

North Fork Ministries was born in North Carolina in 2014. Founded by M.A. Dozier, the non-profit was originally named Nimrod Outdoors, INC. The initial focus was encouraging men, husbands, and fathers to be spiritual leaders in their homes using occasional father-son hunting events as the platform. Over time, the ministry expanded, and new opportunities arose.
In 2019, M.A. and Chelsea felt called to move their family to a place where they could pursue the ministry God had laid on their hearts full-time. This led them to Elberton, GA, where they would expand the non-profit. This was a leap of faith as they left jobs, family, and comfort behind. Within two years, they renovated their property to create The Sanctuary for respite care and The Bunkhouse for men's retreats. COVID delayed their plans and increased costs, but by spring 2021, the projects were completed, and the ministry was debt-free.
North Fork Ministries, still known as Nimrod Outdoors at this time, proceeded into three challenging but growth-filled years, where it expanded its activities, keeping the Dozier family engaged in operating both the bunkhouse and the respite room. Both facilities were at capacity during various events, including hosting a men's gathering in one location while supporting missionaries in the other. The ministry continued to evolve as new opportunities arose. M.A. and Chelsea had 3 beautiful kids, and while God worked on their hearts and the ministry they were called to, they felt something was lacking.
Mike and Cheryl Dozier, M.A.’s parents, had always been actively involved in the ministry as well as felt called to ministry of their own. Eventually, Mike and Cheryl went all-in. They designed and built a space dedicated to ministry events in Martin, Georgia. M.A. and Chelsea sold their beautiful farmhouse to build on the same property as Mike and Cheryl.
In 2025, Nimrod Outdoors was renamed North Fork Ministries, reflecting the presence of the North Fork of the Broad River on the property. Upon entering the little country road, the land is characterized by expansive oak trees and gently rolling grass hills. The space has been created to be a place of sanctuary; a place of refuge or safety. In 2025, The Sanctuary officially opened its doors to ministry events.
North Fork Ministries started as a small hunting ministry focused on spiritual leadership and has grown, at the hand of God, into an organization supporting pastors, missionaries, and families through events, retreats, and speaking engagements. It is a beautiful thing to be able to open their hands to be used by the Lord in whatever way He desires. M.A., Chelsea, Mike, and Cheryl remain committed to building disciples, and now with a truly incredible space available for use, they trust God to provide the necessary resources and opportunities to further His Kingdom through the non-profit, North Fork Ministries, and whatever other ministry opportunities arise.
